What is Autism Matters Newcastle?

A 'not for profit' inclusive charity for Autistic Adults founded primarily in Teeside 13 years ago but now covering the North East.

Opening it`s Newcastle Branch in 2023. Now actively expanding into Northumberland.

Our existing Autistic services in The North East cover Gateshead, South and North Shields, Northumberland and the City of Newcastle.

Lots of friendships, confidence building, upskilling and positive self growth has been achieved whilst having lots of fun and embracing individuality and making sustainable relationships within their local areas.

Very much a community focused charity which believes strongly in complementing local services.

A bit about our Referral Criteria;

We take self referrals as well as professional enquiries so we are open to all neurodivergent adults who don't require help with self care making us very accessible.
We are open to Autistic Adults with or without a learning disability.
We are a low to moderate support service.

Services We Offer Currently;

Both 1-1 PA support and social groups too.
Not to mention short breaks both in the Uk and abroad.
Our social groups currently meet up to 4 times per week including 2 evenings, 1 daytime and a Sunday session.

We provide an inclusive package for both services which includes transport to and from the activity.

Our activities are as variable and as fun as our members.

Go-karting, archery, snow tubing, pottery, cinema trips, Flamingoland, Go Ape...

You name it, we try it if the budget allows. If a tad too expensive we get creative.
We can't fly our keen wannabe astronauts to the moon but we did take them to Kielder for some dark night sky viewing.

Watching Saturn through a telescope is simply amazing.

Cost?

Costings are usually covered or partially covered by local authorities if they have a budget in place or members may self fund.
