LD:NorthEast are a local charity who engage with people who have lived experience of learning disabilities, learning difficulties and autism. We work across North Tyneside and we currently reach around 700 people of all ages. Our vision is for the people we support to have the same rights, opportunities and quality of life as everyone else, and to be able to live life to the full within their local community.
Our Community Outreach Service supports people to keep healthy and active, feel included in their community and spend time with friends. We provide support on an individual and group basis, and we also support people to get away on short breaks and day trips.
We run various projects including our Children in Need funded Early Years Project which supports pre-school children to learn and develop through play, and our National Lottery funded Tomorrows Project which tackles loneliness and isolation by supporting people aged 50+ to live well in their community.
We also work with North Tyneside CCG and two of the North Tyneside Primary Care Networks to drive down health inequalities and support people to look after their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
We are members of the Mental Health Alliance. You can read more about it here.
