We exist to offer support to D/deaf, Deafblind, Hard-of-Hearing and Deafened people and their families across the North East. We are unique in the North East as we are the only organisation providing specialist support to people with all levels of hearing loss.

We recognise the significant barriers that D/deaf people face everyday, trying to access services, trying to understand inaccessible information and generally trying to navigate their way through systems and procedures that exclude them, like emails and telephones. We provide some services and will signpost to others if they require more specialist support.

Deaflink is an open, inclusive and supportive organisation. We work to empower and improve the quality of life of D/deaf people. We do this through providing forums, opportunities to learn and provide feedback in safe places. We also provide one to one support, empowering and supporting people by providing an accessible service where we can communicate direct to the client. Helping BSL users understand letters they have been sent, contacting organisations to ensure that they provide interpreters for appointment. Representing and advocating on their behalf.

We provide training and D/deaf awareness presentations.

We have staff who are D/deaf and staff who are hearing who can sign BSL.
