Mental Health

Welcome to the Mental Health category—a supportive space for diverse resources in North Tyneside. Here, you’ll find guidance on general wellbeing, strategies for managing stress and anxiety, and support for those caring for loved ones with dementia. We cover a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, self-harm, and eating disorders, along with resources for learning disabilities and autism.

Our aim is to foster a compassionate and inclusive community that helps individuals facing loneliness, isolation, and other mental health challenges. Whether you’re seeking tools for mental health recovery or ways to improve overall wellbeing, our resources are designed to support your unique journey towards mental wellness.

Support Groups

Local support groups can be a way to get help and meet with other people who have a similar experience. Some provide therapy, while others offer activities or opportunities to socialise and reduce isolation.

Peer support is when people use their own experiences to help each other, this could be a lived experience of mental illness either personally or in a caring role. In some cases peer support groups are run by volunteers, in others they may be facilitated by the NHS or another local service such as a charity or community group.

Groups can be informal and accessed directly, others may require a referral from a GP or self-referral.
